The Connecticut State Dental Association is releasing a new report that shows major improvements have been made in the state’s dental program for needy children.
Among the advancements, the association says there’s been an increase in the number of participating dentists. The figure rose from 150 to more than 1,300 since the program began in 2008.
The report also shows 99.4 percent of children on Medicaid have access to at least two providers within 10 miles of their home, and that no child has had to wait more than 24 hours with a dental emergency.
Also, the number of children treated has increased from 88,891 to more than 171,871.
The report will be released Wednesday. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and various legislative leaders are scheduled to attend the news conference.
